Telluride is getting its first private on-mountain club — and it’s going to be stunning

Telluride’s already world-famous mountain scene is about to get even more exclusive, and a whole lot more luxurious. Southworth, the family-owned developer known for creating some of the world’s most prestigious private clubs, has announced The Alpine Club, the town’s first-ever fully private, on-mountain club.

Perched 10,540 feet above sea level at San Sophia Station, where downtown Telluride and Mountain Village meet via gondola, The Alpine Club is designed as a high-altitude haven for adventure, wellness, and connection. The 26,000-square-foot retreat will pair Telluride’s alpine energy with Southworth’s signature luxury hospitality. Think après-ski cocktails, curated wellness programs, and panoramic San Juan Mountain views.

Inside, members can expect a spa and wellness center complete with a sauna, steam room, cold plunge, and stretch lab, along with world-class dining in a restaurant featuring an indoor/outdoor après lounge, chef’s table, and signature bar. The property will also include private ski valet service, concierge access, a kids club, owners’ lockers, and even a golf and gaming simulator with cinema seating. Blending weathered wood, hand-stitched leather, and earthy tones, the club’s design by Pembrooke & Ives will reflect Telluride’s natural beauty and laid-back sophistication.

“The Alpine Club is unlike anything that currently exists in Telluride,” said Tommy Southworth, president of Southworth. “This is not just about ski access; it’s about creating an elevated lifestyle in one of the most extraordinary alpine settings in the world.”

Construction begins in fall 2025, with a grand opening planned for the 2026/2027 ski season.
